A DIY wedding…
Mar 18th, 2007 by Katie
Today I am very pleased to welcome our third blogger bride, Thryn. Hailing from Baltimore, USA, Thryn is planning an ethical wedding because she and her fiancé are as much committed to the environment and volunteering as they are to each other.
Take a look at Thryn’s profile…and enjoy her first post, over to Thryn:
“It’s hard to say whether it’s easier or harder for two artists to plan a wedding.
In a lot of ways it’s easier, because we can make so many things ourselves, which gives me complete creative control.
That of course means I can choose fair trade/eco-friendly materials as much as possible.
But making a lot of things ourselves also takes a lot of time so it’s still quite a challenge. Our wedding may set a record for the most hours spent making things by hand!
Right now we have about 6 months to go, and a lot of things left to make, including our invitations, which we are screen printing on plantable seed paper, our flowers, which we are making out of origami (that will be recycled and/or donated after the wedding), and the guest book, favors, other decorations…the list goes on.
Wish us luck with our ambitiously DIY ethical wedding! Seriously. We need it.”
Thanks Thryn! We’ll be hearing from Thryn every other Sunday so keep an eye out for her posts and if anyone has any tips for her DIY wedding, just drop us a line…
Happy planning!
Katie
