Ciao bella! Ethical weddings in Italy…
Mar 25th, 2007 by Katie
Do we have any Italian ethical brides and grooms out there? If you’re reading, we want to hear from you… and to know why you didn’t get in touch sooner!
While both the Spanish (see article ‘How green was our wedding?‘ - I’ll translate it when I get a minute!) and French press have been knocking at our door asking us to spill the organic green beans on green and ethical weddings as they ‘know nothing’ (sorry, couldn’t help myself!), who knew that Italy had already grasped the concept of ethical weddings back in 2003?
They even published a book about it: ‘Giuste Nozze’ (’Ethical Weddings’ - if you hadn’t guessed…)
According to the article, ‘Wedding couples make an ethical proposal’ that appeared in ‘Wanted in Rome’ in Feb 2006, the book is based on the premise that the more we have, the less time we have to enjoy it, and is an invitation to pare down one’s wedding preparations and make the day as ethical as possible.
I came across it by chance through random late night googling but would love to know to what extent the Italians have embraced the idea over the last 4 years.
I am also attempting to buy the book but can’t find it on Amazon and haven’t yet managed to successfully negotiate any of the Italian sites. If anyone fares any better, let me know. Theoretically, you should be able to buy it from Bottega Solidale
Ciao for now!
Katie
