My husband and I used Zankyou registry to raise funds for Karma Nirvana organization that supports victims of forced marriages. Like yourselves, we just didn’t need any more stuff and figured if people want to spend money on something for us, it should go to a good cause. Really I don’t see what’s so wrong with that and why anyone would get upset. Would they rather buy you a toaster or expensive China than help people in need?

I think the idea of a place card that is a plant is such a great idea. You will save on decor and use less cut flowers. I received a cactus from a bride once and it still sits in my kitchen window 2 years later!

Even the lanterns without metal in them, what effect does the other parts have on the animals that eat them?

Can we be sure that nothing in the lantern will cause harm to livestock?

I shot an eco-friendly Sikh wedding in October. The young couple wanted to be the first in their community to show that it could be done. I was honoured to be a part of it.

They took all the integral aspects of their culture and pared down the multi-day event, kept it at one location and used all green vendors. It was beautiful!
