Ethical Weddings Fairtrade Fortnight Challenge - Day 1

It’s Fairtrade Fortnight!
And to mark the occasion I’ve decided to take on a self imposed Fair Trade Wedding Challenge!
Inspired by the passion behind Fairtrade Fortnight, and keen to see fair trade develop a significant presence in the wedding industry, I will be trying to source at least one fair trade wedding item a day, over the next 14 days, and sharing my findings here.
Fingers crossed this won’t be too difficult, although I’m not sure, as at our wedding in 2005 we found it problematic to source anything other than the obvious: fair trade wine, coffee, tea and sugar.
In particular we found the lack of fair trade products being sold specifically for weddings a major stumbling block - there were no entries in the phone directory or on the Internet for ‘fair trade weddings’.
My hope is that taking the time to do this challenge will start to change this situation, helping couples to find fair trade goods with far more ease. So please return here later tonight to see how my first day has gone – today I’ll be looking for fair trade wedding stationery!
