Ethical Weddings Fairtrade Fortnight Challenge - Day 2: The Gift List
Feb 27th, 2007 by Katie
Before sealing up the envelopes to your fair trade invitations, don’t forget to pop in your wedding gift list details!
Fair Trade Wedding Gift Lists
Today I’ve found three online wedding gift list services that are dedicated to selling only fair trade goods:
Ganesha Wedding Gift List, why not pop into their London South Bank shop for a browse? Tszuj Wedding Gift List, who are based in Devon, and Fairgift Wedding List - coming soon for 2007 brides and grooms. Register now to be notified when they launch.
Up next, Biome Lifestyle have emailed me just in time for this post to tell me about their recently launched ‘Eco Wedding List Service‘ that includes clearly labelled ‘fairly traded’ items. While Ethical Weddings supplier Our Green Wedding List, offer fair trade bed linen, among other gorgeous gifts.
And for those of you in Scotland, One World Shop has a wedding gift list service operating from their shops in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Gift Vouchers
If a wedding list is not your thing, but you’d like to receive gift vouchers for fair trade products, how about directing your guests to Chandni Chowk or One World is Enough.
No more stuff!
And finally if you’re not looking for any more ‘stuff’ in your life check out War on Want who have projects all around the world (Colombia, South Africa, Bangladesh, Brazil…) and who’ve set up an alternative gift list. From £5 to £60 you can:![]()
– Help improve working conditions in Central American sweatshops
– Help increase women workers’ influence in Asian sweatshops
– Give health training to 20 flower workers
– Help Bangladeshi agricultural workers defend their rights
How appropriate for this Fairtrade Fortnight Challenge!
I’ll be back tomorrow with the third challenge: Fair trade dressing up!

Fair Trade Wedding Stationery Update
Following yesterday’s stationery challenge, a big thank you goes to Adele, who emailed to say:
“Just wanted to share a great supplier with you. My partner and I are in the process of planning our wedding and trying to find some fairly traded, ethical wedding stationery. We recently visited Thailand and discovered a company called Jaab Design who do beautiful vibrant stationery which could be used for weddings. The organisation is fairtrade, environmentally friendly and supports women in Thailand with breast cancer.”
