Green Wedding Fair

A big thank you to Alex for her fab Fairtrade Fortnight Challenge searching high and low for fair trade wedding fare. While Alex takes a well deserved rest, I have another type of fair to tell you about… a green wedding fair!
Sadly, for us in the UK, this is one for Stateside brides only…but we can dream!
The organisers contacted us to tell us about the event:
“A Soolip Wedding is Los Angeles’ premier bridal event for the stylish, modern bride, which will be held this Sunday 18 March at Social Hollywood in Los Angeles.
The theme of the event will be A Green Wedding, focusing on environmentally-conscious choices and vendors for wedding days.
Environmentally sustainable elegance now is possible with aesthetically-pleasing choices, ranging from tree-free papers
and other reclaimed materials, to organically grown and wild-harvested ingredients for festive party foods, to party favors that have a life beyond the event.
“Though going completely green for many of us is a seemingly impossible hurdle, know that each environmentally sound action we take does make a difference,” says Wanda Wen, Co-Founder of Soolip and creator of A Soolip Wedding.

And if you, like me, were wondering… ‘Soolip’ translates from the Chinese to mean: “One’s life destiny is to seek wisdom“
If any US brides attend the fair this weekend, we’d love to hear from you and find out how it went.
Meanwhile, back in the UK and on a much smaller scale, Ethical Weddings is planning to take a stall at the Sussex EcoFair being organised by Ecotecture for 23 June 2007.
At the moment, we’re feeling a little lonely and would welcome other ethical and green wedding suppliers to share the space with us! Drop us a line if you’re interested in getting involved. 31 March is the deadline for confirming attendance.

I’m lucky enough to be going to A Soolip Wedding this weekend! I’ll be running a week of Green Wedding ideas from what I learn there on my blog next week.
