Recycle Your Dress for a Great Cause
Apr 12th, 2007 by Rhonda
Hi everyone, this is Rhonda from Our Wedding Plus. I’d like to thank Katie for adding me on as a guest blogger!
For my first post I want to spread the word about how we in the wedding community can support a great cause, helping breast cancer patients and their families.
The Making Memories Foundation has an ongoing fund-raising event called Brides Against Breast Cancer.
Brides Against Breast Cancer raises funds through the sale of donated wedding dresses at over 32 shows around the United States each year. Sales are made up of dresses donated by newly married brides, as well as brand new dresses donated by manufacturers and designers. These dresses are then sold at a big discount over their retail price. While the gown sales events are only held in the States, donations are taken worldwide. What a great way to recycle your dress!
The mission statement of the Making Memories Foundation is:
“To provide an opportunity for metastatic breast cancer patients’ dream or wish to be fulfilled by providing a special time of ‘Making Memories’ together with their families, a chance that might not have become a reality without the assistance of the Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation.”
“To advance the awareness of breast cancer and to educate the public about the vast resources and support available to breast cancer patients and their families.”
There are more ways to help this great cause than donating or buying a dress through their sales events. To find out how you can help check out their Brides Against Breast Cancer website. There you will also find a schedule of their sales events around the United States.
