Shoes Show Up in Oxfam!
Apr 24th, 2007 by Jenny
Just a quick post - I have found my wedding shoes for £6 in my local Oxfam shop. Clearly only worn once for someone else’s big day, they are nearly pristine, with one tiny mark on the side which you cannot see unless you peer at them closely (and I don’t think many people will study my feet!)
I was very pleased with this find because I was having trouble finding shoes that fitted the bill. I wanted to feel tall (as I am a bit short) but still be able to dance properly for my ‘first dance’ with Phil - so I was looking for small heels, non-slippery soles and shoes that would fasten tightly and not come off on the dancefloor. That does not seem to be the fashion at the moment, so I couldn’t find the right ones anywhere.
My local Oxfam is not a wedding specialist but over the last few months I have been making a point of nosing around it every couple of weeks, just in case - and quite a few wedding shoes have found their way in there. It did not take long for the perfect shoes to appear! So I just thought I would mention - even charity shops that do not routinely stock wedding clothes can get lovely wedding things brought in from time to time. I’ve seen a lot of nice little weddingy handbags in there too.
Great post, Jenny. Definitely a good plan to keep an eye out for wedding items in any and every charity shop, not just the ones that specialise in bridalwear. Bags, shoes, accessories and wedding dresses turn up all the time - and you can always get an outdated dress re-styled to suit…
I think I am going to get my outfit for the big day from a charity shop… some amazing things turn up there!
